Monday, June 16All Caught Up On Our Sex
So I'm troubled by the knowledge that Cindy and I are now completely caught up on 4 seasons of backissue Sex and the City shows. How did we manage that? Troubled, for one, that we actually got hooked on this show, with its many implications for both our collective taste and sanity. I mean, prior to watching it I presumed it was strictly for the Aaron Spelling crowd. But it sort of works on you, creeping into your perception of the known universe in strange, small ways. Perhaps it's more to do with that 30 minute, all tidy and generally amusing package, 6 episodes to a disc from Netflix on demand. Maybe it's how unimaginably shitty the offerings on broadcast tv have become the past few years. Maybe we're uptight bobos with a latent sex fascination. Maybe all of the above!
Two, I'm bothered by the fact that we're now attached to this tv construct - the characters, style, wit, writing - and now have about 50 weeks to go until the current season is released on DVD. What the hell are we supposed to do for end-of-the-night-gel-out-and-relax-time now? Read???

Tuesday, June 10STATUS REPORT!
Time is going by at it's usual breathtaking clip; I feel like a 19th century farmer, standing in his field watching people fly by on a westbound locamotive. Except the people on the train are the hours and minutes that I never seem to catch up with in a satisfactory way.
~ Bought an old salt fired jug on Ebay.
~ Had a birthday, with little in the realm of introspective 32-year-old thoughts beyond the desire to make more pots.
~ Visited Marj Peeler out in Reelsville, IN; thought a lot about the past and continuities of pottery traditions and what it all means in the end. Also took home a car load of amazing stuff, from kiln posts to glaze materials to 30 years of Ceramics Monthly.
~ Started making earthenware pots outside. Pure bliss. Underglaze decoration is starting to show promise. (see what I'm talking about)
~ More pots for the soda kiln, but not enough or fast enough.
~ Our 7th anniversary, Cindy and I spent some good time around the house, working, being in the same place for a while. Nice.
~ Repainted a bedroom, finally got around to installing quarter-round trim upstairs, a few more bricks in the patio.
~ Searching for a banjo.
